My game plan is to not only to create a moodle page but update it daily so students and parents can use it on a daily basis if wanted or needed. I also want to promote technology and responsibility and what better way to do this then be a role model and show the students that I am learning just as they are. I also would like to use the moddle page in order to provide resources for various activities that we are working on and for those students who need extra reinforcement.
Some of the resources that I plan to use are not only my colleagues who currently use moodle but the workshops that my districts have set up for those who want to learn. I also would like to complete some research online and give my students and parents a survey in order to make sure that the moddle page is set up and most effective for not only the students but parents as well. The last thing I would like to learn is how to connect blogging to my moddle page in order to maximize the site to its fullest.
Some additional information that I need to locate and implement are various lessons for the beginning of the year along with an informational packet to send home for parents to look over relating to internet safety. This will hopefully help connect the student’s home life and school life as well as show students how dangers the internet can be if used incorrectly.
Any suggestions on how to more effectively complete my game plan are welcomed!!!

I would really like to hear more about this "moodle" program. I have never heard of it and it sounds very interesting. Would you use it as a website or does it just contain resources for your class? I have found keeping a website to be a very time consuming task and not many students/parents have gotten any use from it. Many do not even seem to realize that the resource is available and tend to ignore it. Do you have success with this site?
ReplyDeleteMoodle is a website similar to blogging but with a lot more functions like a resource section. Many of my colleagues that I work with use the site and find it to be a wonderful tool. I can see how it would be time consuming and I often wondered the same thing if parents and students would actually use the site to its fullest advantage. In my district they push providing every opportunity for parents to take part in their child’s life but like you said many do not even realize that the resources are available or take the time to use them. This year I have noticed that many students have got into the site but not for resources that are available but for more for the blogging aspect. For me I am hoping that my students will use it for more of a resource than blogging being that I teach special education but who know what’s really going to happen.
ReplyDeleteHi Sandra! I really like your idea of using the internet to have better contact with the families of our students. It is so easy for a parent to hop on the internet and check to see what is happening in thier child's classes. Have a great week! Shayne
ReplyDeleteSandra-
ReplyDeleteI have a few colleagues that use Moodle to make sure all of their students are up to speed on what they are doing in the class. I have heard mixed reviews from students and staff alike. I think you have a great goal of trying to work on it every day. With all of the challenges we face in a day at school, it would be difficult to do this consistently. Good luck
